LNFI Fun Run 2020 – February 13 and 14

Mark your calendars and get ready for the LNFI Fun Run on Thursday, February 13, at Upper Campus and Friday, February 14, at Lower Campus! This is our biggest fundraiser for the year. The money we raise helps pay for interns and other PTO programs (teacher appreciation meals, Dancing Classrooms, library books, field trip assistance, and much more) for the 2020-21 school year.

Interns are the #1 investment that the PTO makes for our kids’ education. Interns lower student-to-teacher ratios, increase students’ exposure to native accents and provide a unique cultural experience for our kids.

The PTO is collaborating with Apex Fun Run again this year. Apex Fun Run is a national program designed to help schools raise money while promoting student leadership and fitness – www.apexfunrun.com. Apex Fun Run staff will be working with our teachers and students during the first two weeks of February.

The Fun Run is a pledge-based fundraiser. Students solicit pledges from family members, neighbors, friends, etc. for the laps they will run during the Fun Run. Sponsors can pledge $1 per lap, $2 per lap, $5 per lap, or any other amount for their students.

In order to make the Fun Run a success, we need your help:

  • Help your child in asking for and getting pledges from family and friends. The more pledges we have, the more money we raise for next year’s interns. Fundraising packets will be coming home on Monday, February 26.
  • Volunteer to help with the Fun Run. We need ten parents per grade level to help with the run. You can volunteer at www.lnfi-pto.org/volunteer.
  • Attend the Fun Run and cheer on our student runners!

Every student gets to participate in the Fun Run whether or not they raise pledges. Everyone gets fun prizes and team awards!

Are pre-K students participating in the Fun Run?

Pre-K students are not participating in fundraising; however, they will participate for part of the Fun Run (see schedule above).

How far do the kids run?

The kids will run for 30 minutes, about 26-36 laps around the Fun Run course.  Each lap is approximately 1/16 of a mile.  Thirty-six laps is the maximum they can run.

Are volunteers needed for the Fun Run?

Yes!  We need about 80 volunteers for the Fun Run.  You can volunteer at: www.lnfi-pto.org/volunteer.

Can family and friends watch the Fun Run?

Yes!  Please come out and cheer your runners on.

How can I make a pledge?

You can make a pledge on-line: https://myapexevent.com.  Each student will receive a unique access code so that pledges can be made via the website.  You can also make a pledge by cash or check.  Please make checks out to “LNFI PTO.”  All cash and check pledges need to be returned to teachers in the students’ classrooms by Friday, February 14.

Can I make a pledge for a specific amount?  A pledge that is independent of how many laps my student runs?

Yes, you can make a pledge for a specific amount.  For example, you can pledge $50.

How much money does the PTO hope to raise during the Fun Run?

Our goal is to raise $50,000 in pledges.  We know we can do it – we raised about $40,000 in pledges last year!
